Ryan Hammond
Co-President
Originally from Southington, CT, Ryan is a third-year in the College, double majoring in Economics and Law, Letters and Society. He is passionate about the intersection of Economics and Law, as well as about the debate between for-profit and non-profit microfinance. Outside of UCMI, he is involved in the Neighborhood Schools Program where he volunteers in a 4th grade school in Chicago. During the school year, Ryan works as a Research Assistant at the Becker Center on Price Theory at the Booth School of Business.
He will be serving as Co-President for the 2012-2013 school year and is excited about continuing and developing UCMI’s investment and consulting branches in order to ensure their success. During the 2010-2011 school year, Ryan was involved in both the consulting and investment portions of UCMI. He believes that microfinance has and will continue to play an integral role in alleviating poverty across the world. Microfinance eliminates third parties and ensures that credit reaches the individuals who need it most. He is passionate about UCMI in particular not only because of the consulting and investment skills it provides its members but also due to the tangible impact it makes across the world with actual investments. He looks forward to being a part of UCMI as it continues to progress as a leading microfinance organization.
